Instead of too many words
Yes, using logic in opinion pieces can lead to verbosity. And internet users hate verbosity. So without further ado, here’s the simple reason why the filibuster should be ended. If you’re not easily offended by cuss words, it doesn’t get easier to understand.

A Covid update
Brazil hit an alltime high in new cases on June 18th. And is on track to go higher. Brazil has the world’s 6th largest population.
Colombia hit its all time high on June 4th, at 30,000. On June 17th it was still at 29,945, so it easily could rise higher. It currently has the third most new cases in the world, after Brazil and India.
Russia, with the world’s 9th largest population, is rising again.
Indonesia, with the world’s 4th largest population, not far behind the US population, hit its all time high on June 21st, just last Monday. It looks to be headed higher still.
Covid’s even rising in the UK again. This is especially troubling since it has the 4th best vaccination rates in the world, nearing the 70% level which is the best guess at where herd immunity occurs. This is the Delta variation that we still have to be concerned about.
Though new cases in the US are down to the mid-March level of 2020, when a few states just began their shutdowns, we’re still #10 globally with over 11,000 cases per day on at least one day this week. And happily, our trajectory is still going downhill.
We’re barely behind South Africa, which is also rising again. Counting the US, there’s 10 countries with more than 11,000 new cases/day. All other countries are under 7,000/day. But in the to 15, Iraq and Bangladesh are rising again too. So 8 of the 15 countries with the most new cases, rates are rising.
We only have 3 states with over 1,000 new cases a day now: TX, FL and CA. The bad news here is new cases have been rising in MO and AR, and as of yesterday, it looks like TX could be joining them. Missouri has 1/17th as many residents as CA but its new cases are barely behind CA’s.
There are 44 states with less than 400 new cases/day for each. But those three risers could spread to more. Especially those lagging behind in vaccination rates.
Is Missouri still the Show Me state?
And one final note:
This woman has Post Insurrection Stress Disorder because vicious, deadly and often deluded people brought about the death of her husband. We all should be angry and sad, too, because so many in Congress refuse to govern and refuse to staand up for the people they hired to protect them.
They stand only for moral corruption.
