Losering Loser Loses Again
Per Washington Post midday:
>>Breaking news: Former president Donald Trump’s namesake company was convicted of tax crimes committed by two of its longtime executives after a Manhattan trial that gave jurors a peek at some of the inner workings of the Trump Organization’s finances.<<
Before morning, I expect the strange ex-president will insist it's because the jury system is biased because juries are made up of people and then he'll demand the termination of evolution.
A couple of Facebook friends commented:
Richard Mathis: It wasn’t a jury of his peers: there were no Klansmen or Nazis.
Edward Kazala: Or pedophiles.
So, a recap: The Trump school had to pay out around $25 million to students it defrauded. The Trump foundation charity managed by some of his kids had to pay fines and its managers had to get remedial education to avoid lawbreaking in the future. All this has occurred in the last 6 years. Now the Trump Organization - his principal business - may be completely out of business.
Prior to this ruling, he launched a new organization, so he still has his hands in a functioning business, as well as a SuperPAC to raise money for political campaigns. I consider it highly likely there’ll also be lawsuits for campaign finance violations ahead.
Beyond that guesswork, it appears the Fulton County, Georgia DA is trying to build a racketeering case against Trump lawyers and staffers (and others) involved in the effort to overturn the 2020 election results in that state. Michael Flynn tried to quash a subpoena from that grand jury and a court ruled against him, also today.
The guy that the DOJ has tasked to continue its investigation has also requested documents and transcripts of similar efforts in at least 3 states. So multiple lawyers - including Giuliani - could face sanctions, disbarments and other lawsuits. Other elected officials and people appointed by Trump could be facing legal trouble too.
Trump’s fight against his alleged rape victim (E. Jean Carroll) will likely be decided over the winter and I anticipate indictments from the Fulton County DA in the same time period. I’d look for federal charges in spring or summer because the DOJ would like to get those outcomes completed before January of 2024 when primary contests start in earnest.
It’s not a good time to be a member of the Trump Crime Family. Anyone placing bets on an outcome should consider the possibility he’ll flee into exile to avoid doing time because - so far - his legal maneuvers have only succeeded in delaying proceedings with almost no wins.
With his tax returns under review by a Congressional committee, with the complete records of the Jan 6 Committee due to be released before Christmas recess, the news narrative will flip in early January once the new house leadership changes. They’ll try to go after Hunter Biden and Joe Biden though after 4 years they’ve yet to demonstrate any legal wrongdoing by Joe. But the GOP leadership is notoriously repetitive pushing tired and weak legal arguments that the majority of the country is wise to.
Between January and Memorial Day, the normal seasonal oil price increase will occur so the GOP will maintain some semblance of credence till then, yelling about inflation. But they’ll have no propaganda bullets after that, so it’s very predictable that his waning support will wane faster, reducing his political prospects from slim to none.
The Capitol police and DC police delivered an impressive rebuke to key enablers of the strange ex-president today.
I expect the Georgia Senate race to be called before morning with Reverend Warnock winning by at least 4 points. The polling trends and early voting trends provide the basis for my prediction.
I’ll turn my attention elsewhere for the next few days.
The weather report: it’s freaking cold.
And here’s an old spoof for your idle amusement.
