Stay cool y'all
Well, America, you bring the hot.
You so hot, you’re causing gerbil warming. The Bipolar icecaps are melting, the smoke is coming from summer breeze enhanced wildflowers, probably intentionally set by botanists.
But really, try to chill.
And maybe bring a cool drink to a houseless or struggling family.
After the Congressional January 6th Committee released more evidence and direct testimony from Trump’s hirees (He hires the best people, he said. We said: show us) to demonstrate the massive coordination he launched with his very big megamouth, DJ Trump released a 12 page rebuttal to the committee’s presentation.
He started with an indictment of the Democrats for anything and everything that will energize his supporters, plus his claim that the bipartisan committee is a kangaroo court. And it’s not even a court. Then:
“Seventeen months after the events of January 6th, Democrats are unable to offer solutions,” Trump said in a statement released through his Save America PAC. “They are desperate to change the narrative of a failing nation, without even making mention of the havoc and death caused by the Radical Left just months earlier. Make no mistake, they control the government. They own this disaster. They are hoping that these hearings will somehow alter their failing prospects.”
Havoc and death by the radical left? What’s he talking about? If he refers to the Black Lives Matter protests or Antifa, there are numerous deaths caused by right wing murderers, including police officers and peaceful protesters they killed. There’s only one death caused by a counter protester to a Proud Boy. But lying big and repetitively is a regular feature of DJ Trump.
Otherwise his response reiterated the regular array of assertions about the 2020 election that have been proven false. Then he shifted into diversion, drawing attention to perceived Democratic weaknesses which have nothing to do with the bipartisan committee.
“As we near the midterm elections, we’re watching the Swamp creatures circle the drain as true Americans step up to replace the corrupt Establishment with patriots who will fight for our freedoms,” Trump says in Monday’s 12-page statement.
“The Establishment is holding on as tightly as they can to their power as they watch it slip from their grasp. Our country is in a nosedive,” he continues. “Americans are struggling to fill their gas tanks, feed their babies, educate their children, hire employees, order supplies, protect our border from invasion, and a host of other tragedies that are 100% caused by Democrats who obtained power through a rigged election, and the people of our country are both angry and sad.”
Got that? If you don’t support Trump, you’re not a ‘true American’. His ‘swamp creatures’ are the establishment, which is all of us, left, right and center. And the ‘patriots who will fight for our freedoms’ are the guys who’re being prosecuted for seditious conspiracy by the Justice Department, independent of the committee. It doesn’t include any member of any generation of the Trump family as none have contributed one second of military service.
His Establishment summation is a mix of justified claims and bullshit:
1) Struggling to fill their gas tanks and feed their babies is pretty on the mark. Nobody is struggling to educate their kids, there’s just a GOP effort to ban teaching about America’s racism. There is a labor pool shortage because unemployment is at its lowest level in 60 years so is that a bad thing? Supply chain issues have been a problem for more than two years, including his term in office.
Both parties protect our borders as immigrants who enter without proper approval have been declining for years. And what host of ‘other tragedies’? Mass shootings? That can’t be put on the Left or on Democrats.
2) Otherwise, it’s mostly a rehash of the old lies. And to be clear, Trump didn’t write this response. It’s too long and specific, with footnotes even. This response was likely written before the public hearings began.
But the Big Lie propaganda technique is paying off for him. More than 100 candidates for office across the country were defenders of the stolen election claim. In New Mexico, a county commission is challenging this week’s primary results. Its members include a January 6th insurrectionist and the Secretary of State there now has to utilize the courts to get the voting results certified.
As the Republicans rushed to fill the seats of any position that can make future challenges to the will of the voters, the claims of fraud will multiply without the thing that matters: evidence.
For even the half-hearted citizen who invests a little time to political matters, it’s not a surprise to learn that Trump rarely traffics in truth but the biggest shock appears to be that he’s been raising funds under the guise of spending it on his legal defense, but has been spending it on propaganda and electioneering instead. And has likely broken a few more laws or regulations to do so.
I’ve been pointing out for the past 5 years his record of monetary misdirection that his entire adult life has demonstrated. He’s fleeced contractors, students, consumers, charities and more. Calling him a carny and his contributors rubes since he began the post election fundraising effort hasn’t convinced a single Trump supporter yet.
But the danger to our democratic form of government now comes from those in charge of certifying the votes who potentially could overturn an election based on fraud. What better way to steal an election than by claiming the Dems are doing what Trump is visibly doing?
Want to see the Proud Boys insurrection plan? Now you can.
Doesn’t sound a bit like tourists doing touristing.
I found this closing bit instructive:
Rand and Ron? With Ron planning to be THE candidate if Trump doesn’t run.
The Supreme Court has a host of decisions to announce this week and next, so expect several controversial outcomes, not just the Roe v Wade one. I’m looking for some decisions today or tomorrow.
Many have likely never heard of these chemicals but they soon will.
The Environmental Protection Agency warned Wednesday that a group of human-made chemicals found in the drinking water, cosmetics and food packaging used by millions of Americans pose a greater danger to human health than regulators previously thought.
The new health advisories for a ubiquitous class of compounds known as polyfluoroalkyl and perfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, underscore the risk facing dozens of communities across the country. Linked to infertility, thyroid problems and several types of cancer, these “forever chemicals” can persist in the environment for years without breaking down.
“People on the front-lines of PFAS contamination have suffered for far too long,” EPA Administrator Michael Regan said in a statement. “That’s why EPA is taking aggressive action.”
And where do they come from? Mostly here:
Since the 1940s, chemical makers have used the highly durable compounds to make nonstick cookware, moisture-repellent fabrics and flame-retardant equipment. But that same toughness against water and fire, which made the chemicals profitable, allowed them to accumulate in nature and build up in the body — with long-term health impacts.
