I don’t know Wiki or why Wiki gets a pedia and I don’t. To rectify this situation, I’ve created KevinPedia, so I can define people and events in a simple format. And others can add to these definitions…. that’s what that comment box is for, you know what I mean?I wondered about the eight gen-you-wine US House Reprezentatives who voted against suspending trade with Russia and its subsidiary, Belarus… Like what were they thinking?
I do recognize the spirit of independence and the need for caution about groupthink because that’s how freedom freedoms. But I think this is a really weird hill for anyone to build a legacy on. Do they think that appeasing and coddling a Putin really represents any freedom that anyone who’s anyone really wants?
The vote was 424 to 8. Normal trade relations with the two countries will be suspended during Putin’s War, if the Senate and President concur. When signed into law it will have the US Trade Representative try to get both countries excluded from the World Trade Organization and will allow the POTUS to levy tariffs on goods coming from the bloody pair.
There’s also another glaring loophole in the comprehensive sanctions that the EU, the US and other freedom loving US allies have deployed trying to stop the mass murders of Putin: cryptocurrency. In decades past, criminal gangs laundered their illegitimate gains at Nevada casinos and vending machines. Dictators, oligarchs, barons and titans of industry had to create tax havens and shelters and loopholes. Swiss banks also covered many dirty backs.
Today there’s cryptocurrencies. It’s a good place for ransomware gangs to stash their extorted loot. Coincidentally, there seems to be very successful ones operating in Russia extorting money globally from multiple businesses. Crypto is a system of finance where anonymity is a feature, not a bug. But in perilous times such as this, that anonymity grants Putin, his generals and fellow oligarchs a way to feast on the entrails of Ukrainians.
Senator Elizabeth Warren is proposing a path to rein that in and her call for crypto reform is growing in Congress. Not only would it cut off significant funds to powerful Russians but it would also help reduce tax cheating. And delaying such reform now helps prolong Putin’s bloody hell.
KEVINPEDIA
Andy Biggs (R-5th District, AZ) - A lawyer. A professional politician for 19 years. Won $10 million in 1993 in Dick Clark’s/Ed McMahon’s American Family Sweepstakes. Has built his legacy by opposing pandemic relief bills that sent money to all American families. Claimed voter fraud nationwide in 2020 in a fraudulent video and tried to overturn the will of the majority of voters in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Georgia. Claimed an amorphous group of Americans opposed to fascist groups was responsible for the insurrection effort that tried to steal the election away from Joe Biden. Voted against Congressional medals for the Capitol police officers defending against the attackers. Notably, two of his brothers then sent a letter insisting Andy should be removed from Congress for this type of Trump leg-humping bullshit. And was the only Representative to get a 100% rating from a major organization sponsoring climate change denial. Voted against fresh trade sanctions against Russia/Belarus because nobody really knows why, so they assume he’s dumb or paid off.
Dan Bishop (R-9th District, NC) - A lawyer. So far his legacy is built on keeping transgender people pooping and peeing where Bishop thinks they should poop and pee. Compared LGBT activists to the Taliban. Also tried to neuter the vote of a majority of American voters because he wants the blessing of his favorite Fraudfather, who heads the notorious Trump Crime Family. Not content to be a mook for a US gang, now he seeks to be a pawn for a murderous international gang, Vladdie’s Laddies.
Lauren Boebert (R-3rd District, CO) - A bar owner. Also a gun fetishist who moved to Rifle, Colorado and opened the Shooter’s Grill where the staff is encouraged to openly carry at work, to keep poor tippers away. In 2019 and 2020, Shooters Grill lost $369,000. Maintains close ties with QAnon, Three Percenters, Proud Boys and talks shit to believers in any religion but hers, which no deity has claimed, because that’s what our country’s founders wanted. Opposes renewable energy (which makes perfect unethical sense since her husband works for a major methane polluter), gay people having marital rights, teaching US history as it really happened, and school kids getting accurate information about people doing sex things. Joined the Mook Minions of the Fraudfather, trying to neuter the votes of a majority of people in Pennsylvania and Arizona because she’s just bossy that way. Endangered Nancy Pelosi during the insurrection attack, was one out of 21 who voted against giving Capitol police officers Congressional medals for fending off the attackers. Wants to abolish the Dept of Education and nobody expected that from a high school dropout. (She did get her GED at age 34, a month before her first primary.)
Last month she said Canadians "need freedom and need to be liberated" just like Ukraine. Voted against the TRANSPLANT Act, which reauthorized the National Marrow Donor Program through 2026. Has been known to swoon at the sight of a little man with a big gun, like Vladimir Putin (Factcheck.ord rates the last sentence as ‘Really Lame Humor Kevin’)
Matt Gaetz (R-1st District, FL) - Criminy, another lawyer, but was suspended from practicing law in Florida last fall for failing to pay his fees. Opposed a bill to outlaw revenge porn which has to make people wonder about the guy. Currently under investigation for sex with a minor, which makes people wonder even more. He was the only Representative to vote against the Combating Human Trafficking in Commercial Vehicles Act and later joined a few against the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act. On June 23, 2021, he tweeted the FBI should be defunded while it is investigating him for alleged sex trafficking and having sex with a minor, writing, "If Democrats want to defund the police, they should start with the FBI.” So nobody wants their kids to get anywhere near him.
Was elected in Florida’s most Republican district. Has tried to repeal the Affordable Healthcare Act by claiming it fueled the opioid crisis though the opioid crisis began more than a decade before the ACA was law. Tried to kill the Environmental Protection Agency. Voted to award the Nobel Peace Prize for the Fraudfather after he talked to North Korean dictator Kim Wi-Will-Nukeyou and sent him a Valentine’s Day kiss. Has been one of the Fraudfather’s most ardent defenders. But the Fraudather decided not to pardon Gaetz from his sex crime prosecution because Gaetz doesn’t have any incriminating evidence on Trump, like Roger Stone does.
Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-14th District, GA) - was covered perfectly well in my newsletter yesterday). Matt Gaetz has traveled with her to joint speaking engagements to white supremacist groups but nobody thinks Gaetz has ever slept with a 47 year old woman. She’s still one of the 8 Putin stooges.
Glenn Grothman (R-6th District, WI) - Nobody expected another attorney <eyeroll>. In October 2020, Axios rated him on the "Trump Loyalty Index" – measuring both his congressional votes and public reaction to certain statements from President Donald Trump – as a 93, higher than any other member of Congress. Opposes Equal Pay legislation for women, is anti-LGBT, dismissed Kwanzaa as a fake holiday that liberals created to divide America, yet nobody outside of some bars in Wisconsin and one guy in the Kremlin have ever heard of the guy.
Joe Manchin (DINO - US Senator, WV) - The media will always call him a moderate Democrat but Maserati Manchin is really just an average pocket-lining Republican. He’s more conservative than any conservative Democrat. Yes, he supported the Russia sanctions, just like most Republicans did. If Putin supported a coal-powered weapon to kill Ukrainians, though, Manchin would be much happier.
Thomas Massie (R- 4th District, KY) - Electrical engineer and businessman, so it' could be refreshing not to have another lawyer, right? Wrong. The standout performance art of Massie is voting ‘No’ on everything. Tried to kill the Dept of Education and the EPA. Was the sole House member to vote against sanctions on North Korea. And against the Myanmar military coup. And against a condemnation of China’s treatment of Uyghurs. Was against extending sanctions on Iran too. Has voted against bills supportive of Hong Kong, because it would piss off China so his refusal to sanction Putin is, at least, consistent. Good thing he wasn’t around to vote after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. He also voted against the Paycheck Protection Act that sent money to American families during the initial covid shutdown. He doesn’t believe climate change is caused by people. Doesn’t support disaster relief for hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes or floods for any state except Kentucky. He’s one of only two in Congress to oppose the Emmett Till Antilynching Act. He does support massive tax cuts for the wealthiest but otherwise, he’s just against it. Dictators everywhere just love the guy.
Chip Roy ( R-21st District, TX) - Just look at him. Look again. Every time you look at him, can you feel your fight or flight impulse triggered? Your sphincter tightening? Another lawyer, the former chief of staff to Ted Cruz and former Assistant Attorney General to Ken Paxton. Need I say more? He was the ghostwriter for Rick Perry’s book. He called Social Security a Ponzi scheme. He’s against that and against the federal income tax. On the plus side, from this group of 8 only he and Massie didn’t join the charade of trying to steal the 2020 election from the winner, Biden.
Still, look at him. Would you ever turn your back on the guy? You can just tell he keeps a steak knife hidden in his pants.
Kyrsten Sinema (D- US Senator, AZ) - Along with Manchin, she sold out for big bucks. From Big Pharma. She helped kill major essential parts of Joe Biden’s economic recovery plan, which rivaled FDR’s New Deal. Had Biden’s plan been passed, Democratic control of the White House and both houses of Congress could have been guaranteed for a decade or two. But no-o-o-o-o. She opted for the Kyrsten First plan, greasing the wheels for her future as a lobbyist. She did support the trade sanctions against Putin, but she touts her capacity to work with Andy Biggs (see above) and Republican House minority leader McCarthy while taking great delight in mocking Biden.
But Putin will ultimately be able to buy her support as soon as he can free up a little more cash.
