Yes, there is also an upswing in anti-immigration rhetoric here in Quebec, fueled mainly in the "protecting the French language" trope. The current provincial government, however, is seeing a large drop in support, and even its previous supporters, the business elite, are insisting that we need more immigrants to keep the economy healthy. The world is full of stupids.
